The Diploma Project hunting phase started in November, 2013. Not that I had managed to finish my work, but still, an early bird gets the worm, right? had a retail design project in mind, and so did my friend, Tanvi. I still had a long way to go. I started off by mailing all the places I knew, and one place replied almost instantaneously, Foley Designs, a prestigious Bangalore based studio that was trying to do a project on building a brand experience centre . At first they wouldn't tell me which brand, and secondly, they wanted me to join very early. My heart fell to my boots when I realized the brand in question was a sanitaryware brand (No offence meant, I hold the washroom industry in high regard, except it wasn't my idea of a diploma) so I had to say sorry to them.
The other places I applied to were Cogwheel studios, mostly a trade fair sort of place, and there was Studio Adig, based out of Bangalore. So I mailed them, and got a reply from a firm called FRDC. it turned out that they were different verticals of the same firm. Anyway, they had a good reputation with retail and seemed to have a nice range of projects and clients lined up, and they seemed open to having me for a Diploma Intern. however,t hey ended up with second thoughts when they found out I was an Undergraduate. I asked them to reconsider, based on my ability to design. They went off the grid for a while , and I felt I would not get the project, until, they replied ten days later, out of the blue, accepting it! Yes!
I gave myself a February 17th deadline, to join them.

It seems the firm has many verticals and functions , so it would be interesting to see where this leads me!
